Surgical Specialties
Dr. Sherrod is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in diseases and surgery of the breast, laparoscopic surgery, abdominal and intestinal surgery, benign and malignant tumor surgery including liver, pancreas, breast, thyroid, intraabdominal and hernia surgery. He performs both the Lap-Band® and gastric bypass for the treatment of morbid obesity.


Education and Professional Associations
Dr. Sherrod received his MD degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He did his surgical residency at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas. He has practiced general surgery in Austin since 1981. Dr. Sherrod is Certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Travis County Medical Society, Surgical Society of Austin, Texas Surgical Society, Southwestern Surgical Congress, American College of Surgeons, and the American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS).


Biography
Dr. Sherrod grew up in West Texas has been an Austin resident for more than 20 years.
