Surgical Specialties
Dr. Oliver is a board certified general surgeon who specializes in advanced laparoscopic surgery including biliary, reflux, colectomy, and Lap Band gastric banding surgery for the treatment of chronic obesity. Dr. Oliver performs surgery for breast disease including minimal invasive biopsies. Other areas of surgical expertise for Dr. Oliver include diseases of the thyroid, adrenal and pancreas, as well as, surgical oncology. In addition, Dr. Oliver performs the Lap-Band® procedure to help patients overcome severe obesity and its related health conditions.
Education and Professional Associations
Dr. Oliver received her Bachelors Degree from Louisiana State University and her Medical Degree from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Oliver is also a member of the Texas Medical Association, Travis County Medical Society, Surgical Society of Austin, American Society of Breast Disease, Southern Medical Association, Association of Women Surgeons, and the American Society for Bariatric Surgery.
In addition to her professional associations, Dr. Oliver is the Medical Director of Team Survivor USA and Medical Advisor to Central Texas Team Survivor, national and state organizations that promotes exercise and fitness for cancer survivors during and after treatment.
Biography
Dr. Oliver is a triathlete, having progressed from float, coast, and walk to swim, bike and run. She enjoys music - from jam bands to opera, scuba diving, and travel to experience new cultures. She served 10 years in the US Army Reserves and received an honorable discharge.
Dr. Oliver's favorite quote reflects her adventurous spirit. "You cannot discover new oceans if you don't lose sight of the shore."
