Surgical Specialties
A board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Marquez has received advanced training in laparoscopy and the Da Vinci robotic system to perform bariatric surgery including the gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, revisional surgery, as well as other minimally invasive procedures.  Dr Marquez employs the latest technology in the surgical management of breast diseases including in-office cryoablation for breast fibroadenomas.  This minimally invasive procedure uses the only Visica device available in central Texas. Additionally, she performs nipple-sparing mastectomies for improved cosmesis and places catheters for targeted radiation following breast conservation surgery.

Education and Professional Associations
Dr. Marquez graduated with highest honors in psychology and chemistry from the University of Texas at El Paso and received her Medical Degree from Baylor Medical School in Houston.  She completed her surgical residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas then served as an assistant professor in surgery at Louisiana State University in New Orleans where she managed the surgical oncology clinic. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).  She is a clinical professor for Texas A&M teaching medical students in Round Rock and Austin and serves on the board of the Breast Cancer Resource Center as well as several hospital committees in Austin and Round Rock. 

Biography
Dr. Marquez is fluent in Spanish and has practiced in Austin and Round Rock since 1994.  She is married and has two children and enjoys the country life with her dogs, horses, and chickens. For her, exercise is a way of life and includes running, cycling, and working out in the gym. She gets off the beaten path on horseback - Western trail riding or English hunter jumpers. She shares a love for the arts with her artist husband and enjoys the country fiddling of her daughter or electronica performances of her son.
